How to have a great Big Island Vacation and Save Money

Have a great Hawaii Vacation and Save MoneyDear Hawaii traveler,

We happily noticed that our 'How to have a great Hawaii vacation and Save Money' articles found lots of interested readers. The follow-up work with providing more useful vacation links for "Cheap Hawaii Vacation", "Hawaii Luau vacation", "Hawaii Vacations Cruises & Honeymoon packages", "Hawaii vacation condominiums" is still ahead of us. Who missed our posts on Best Hawaii Vacation on the different Hawaiian islands, can find them all here at one glance here:
Now, let's go visit Hawaii, Hawaii the Big Island that is. With our many years of experience in the Big Island vacation rental accommodation business, we are happy to share our insiders' knowledge and our love for this Hawaiian island with everybody who plans his next Hawaii vacation on the Big Island.

Hawaii Big Island is the Hawaiian island of superlatives. The Big Island is not only the largest in the Hawaiian chain and the least populated, but it also offers the biggest diversity of climates (11 micro-climates) and terrain, from dry tropical climate on the west coast beaches - Kona and Kohala Coast - to lush green rainforest on the east coast - Hamakua Coast, Hilo, Puna Kapoho areas.

Your Hawaii vacation on the Big Island will be more than just a beach vacation. So, prepare yourself for a Hawaii vacation beyond the ordinary. We always recommend an entire week for a Big Island vacation. There are just too many things to do and to see, which you don't want to miss once you are on the island. And a little R&R on a white sand between Big Island adventures should be on your vacation itinerary!

First things first, where to stay for your Big Island vacation? The Big Island's fancy ocean front 5-star hotels are on the Kohala Coast, where famous white sand beaches like Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea Beach are located and where the sun shines all year around. You have probably heard about The Hilton Waikoloa Village, which resembles those Maui ocean front resorts like the Grand Wailea with water slide, fish ponds, big guest room towers but...no beach access here. I think the Marriott at Waikoloa Beach Resort and Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel offer the best ratio of price, amenities and beach access of all the Kohala Coast hotels, if you prefer a hotel versus a private vacation rental. Kona Coast hotels are generally cheaper than the Kohala Coast hotels. Keauhou Beach Hotel, King Kamehameha Beach Hotel and Kona Seaside Hotel in Kalua Kona are meeting all the expectations of the budget traveler.

More and more Big Island travelers decide for private, fully equipped vacation rental homes and condos for their Big Island vacation. Rental homes don't only offer you lots of privacy, the option to stay home and cook for yourself but in lots of cases a lot of amenities, like high speed Internet access for your laptop, are included for free in your stay.

With us having lived on the Kohala Coast for so many years, it goes without saying that we recommend vacation homes on the sunny Kohala Coast...white sand beaches are all in an easy 10 -15 minute drive, the Kohala Coast area offers the best access to Mauna Kea summit adventures (one does not need to ski the mountain but star gazing is available to everybody at the Mauna Kea Visitors Center), Kona with Hawaii Ironman Triathlon in October and Hilo with famous Merrie Monarch Hula Festival at Easter are both a convenient 1hr drive away. Even exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and watch the lava flow of Kilauea can be done within a day trip. Why not stay at one of those nice Volcano logdes or cottages for one night!

When arriving at Kona International Airports or Hilo International Airport for your Big Island vacation, pick up vacation brochures for Hawaii right there.
